This Golf R was very well maintained and it comes with all service records since new; most work was done at VW dealer. The brakes work as they should and all 4 tires are very good. The manual transmission shifts smooth, clutch works great, AC is cold and the engine runs smooth. All options and buttons function properly, no oil leaks and no electrical issues.
Exterior looks good with few paint imperfections visible. The interior is clean, minimal wear is visible and it was not smoked inside.
For the 2018 model year refresh, the Golf R gets some exterior cosmetic upgrades, including a new front bumper with bigger air intakes, a new grille, gloss black trim, and new wheels. It also has quite a few interior changes, like the digital cockpit, entertainment system, etc.
The Golf R 2.0T has a 292-hp 2.0-liter turbo four cylinder and 280 lb-ft of torque (this example obviously surpasses those numbers), paired with the latest-generation Haldex AWD system.
It has little turbo lag, making it quick from a stop and responsive at speed, with a 0-60 mph in about 4.8 seconds. Great fuel economy also, at aprox 24mpg City and 30mpg Hwy.
Standard safety features include: antilock disc brakes, automatic hill hold, stability and traction control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver knee airbag. In the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash testing, it earned the highest score of Good.
